New Banking Hub to Open at 7 Church Street, Warrenpoint
Warrenpoint is set to welcome a new Banking Hub at 7 Church Street, offering a much-needed boost to local banking services. This new facility, on the site of the Old Post Office, aims to provide the community with essential access to banking services that have been limited in recent years due to the closure of several local bank branches, including Ulster Bank, and First Trust/AIB.
The Banking Hub will feature a counter service operated by the Post Office, allowing customers of all major banks to perform regular cash transactions from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. In addition to this, the Hub will also offer a Community Banker service. This innovative feature allows customers to discuss more complex banking needs with representatives from their respective banks. The service operates on a rotational basis, with different banks available on specific days of the week:
- Monday: Danske Bank
- Tuesday: Barclays
- Wednesday: Santander
- Thursday: Ulster Bank
- Friday: Bank of Ireland (morning only)
The selection of 7 Church Street as the location for the Hub is a strategic decision by Cash Access UK, aiming to ensure that the facility is conveniently located, accessible, and meets the needs of the entire community. The announcement marks a significant milestone in bringing this vital service to Warrenpoint, with the premises in the heart of the town.
Gareth Oakley, CEO of Cash Access UK, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are delighted to be able to confirm the location for the Warrenpoint Banking Hub. The Hub will play a key role in providing access to cash and banking services to the local community. We will keep the community updated on our progress.”
Local representatives have also welcomed the news. South Down MP Chris Hazzard commented, “It is positive news that work to open a new banking hub on Church Street will start this month. The closure of banks in Warrenpoint over recent years has had a huge impact on the community, and the opening of this hub will ensure local residents have accessible services in the area.”
With the fitting out of the new premises already underway, Cash Access UK is committed to updating the community as progress is made. Residents can stay informed by visiting the Warrenpoint Banking Hub page on the Cash Access UK website for the latest updates and the official opening date.
This new Banking Hub will join the ranks of other Hubs across Northern Ireland, including the existing location in Kilkeel and the upcoming ones in Newcastle, Comber, and Portrush. Warrenpoint is on the cusp of regaining a vital service, reinforcing the town’s status as a thriving community hub.
